ICE CASTLES - What you’ll need:

  • Free Winter Practice Bundle printed pages - Get these when you are signed-up for our Practice Pax Club newsletter. It will be in your inbox in minutes!
  • Scroll to the top of this page to sign-up
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape
  • 15-25 plastic cups (clear are best since they’ll look like ice cubes)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut out the igloo ice cubes on both pages.

2. Turn the cups upside down and tape one ice cube to each cup.

3. A parent or teacher will fill out the 4 or more practice spots on your Igloo chart.

3. After you complete a practice spot, choose 1-3 cups and start stacking an ice castle! If the castle falls, keep going with your practice spots and start a new castle. See how high you can get before your practice is over!

PENGUIN SLEDDING - What you’ll need:

  • Free Winter Practice Bundle printed pages - Get these when you are signed-up to our Practice Pax Club newsletter. It will be in your inbox in minutes!
  • Scroll to the top of this page to sign-up
  • Scissors
  • Any kind of tape
  • Cardstock paper
  • 1-2 small toy cars (like Hot Wheels)
  • Cardboard box

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Print & glue the penguins to cardstock paper to make them stiff.
  2. Cut around each penguin.
  3. Fold each penguin at its waist so it’s sitting up.
  4. Tape each penguin to a toy car (like Hot Wheels).
  5. Cut a ramp out of a cardboard box. Tape multiple pieces together if your box is not long enough.
  6. Place the ramp against a wall, drawers, or desk at a medium angle so a car can easily drive down it. Secure it to the wall with a piece of tape.
  7. A parent or teacher will fill out the 4 or more practice spots on your Sledding chart.
  8. After you complete each practice spot, send a penguin car down the ramp. See how far the penguin can sled before the end of your practice!

NOTE: Be sure to make a flat cardboard runway at the end of the ramp so the penguin can continue to travel.

To help with the sharp ramp-to-floor transition, tape some cardstock paper between the ramp and floor pieces - this will help the car glide all the way down.

BUILD A SNOWMAN - What you’ll need:

  • Free Winter Practice Bundle printed pages - Get these when you are signed-up to our Practice Pax Club newsletter. It will be in your inbox in minutes!
  • Scroll to the top of this page to sign-up
  • Cotton Balls (~25) OR crayons, colored pencils, or markers (if you’re doing the color-a-snowman)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. A parent or teacher will fill out the 4 or more practice spots on your Snowman chart.
  2. After you complete each practice spot, place 5 cotton balls inside the snowman OR if you’re coloring the black and white snowman, choose one part of the snowman to color.
  3. At the end of your practice, your snowman will be filled with cotton balls or all colored in!

Happy winter practicing!
